Oxford Residents Not Taking Bob Barker’s Advice

OXFORD, MS (Ben Caxton) — Oxford’s animal shelter is closing because of people not spaying or neutering their pets. The Oxford-Lafayette Humane Society’s board is exhausted and unable to keep up with an “out of control” animal situation. This week the board announced it will not renew its management agreement with the city which ends September 30th. The shelter will find alternate placement for the animals currently in its care and hopes to open a low-cost or free spay and neuter service to help with the area’s animal overpopulation.
