One Injured in Shelby Two Car US 61 Crash

SHELBY, MS (Ben Caxton) — A Friday accident in Shelby on U.S. 61 sent one person to the hospital. The Mississippi Highway Patrol says 55-year-old Paula Skelton of Cleveland was first taken by ambulance to the Delta Regional Medical Center, and then transferred to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson after her car was struck by a northbound vehicle driven by 61-year-old Robert Smith of Clarksdale. MHP says Smith was traveling north in a Ford F-150, and Skelton was headed east on Mississippi Highway 32 in a Chrysler 300 when she failed to yield as she attempted to cross U.S. 61. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts. Smith did not require medical attention according to the report.
