One Dead, One Injured in Two Weekend Vicksburg Area Shootings

VICKSBURG, MS (Ben Caxton) — One Vicksburg man is dead, and an area man is hospitalized after two separate shooting incidents in Vicksburg over the weekend. Warren County Sheriff’s Deputies were sent to the 4800 block of Halls Ferry Road Friday evening and found a 42-year-old man who had been shot in his backyard and ran to his neighbor’s to summon help. He was taken to the hospital and is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. In another incident, shots were fired into a home at 1314 South Street in Vicksburg just after 4:30 AM Sunday morning. The bullets struck and injured 21-year-old resident Cortez Hardy. Hardy was taken to the hospital for treatment of multiple gunshot wounds but succumbed to his injuries, and died at 3:38 PM. Police believe there may be as many as two shooters involved and are asking for the public’s help in identifying the culprits.
