Ole Miss and MSU Both Make NCAA Tournament

OXFORD, MS (Ben Caxton) — For the first time since 2002, both Mississippi State and Ole Miss will be in the NCAA mens basketball tournament. The 23-and-10 Bulldogs are headed to San Jose as a #5 seed to face 12th seeded Liberty on Friday. The winner of that game will take on the winner of Virginia Tech/Seton Hall. Mississippi State is in the East Region which is headlined by Duke, the #1 overall seed in the tournament. The Bulldogs have not played in the NCAA tournament since 2009. Meanwhile, the 20-and-12 Ole Miss Rebels are the #8 seed in the South Region and will play 9th seeded Oklahoma on Friday in Columbia, South Carolina. If Ole Miss wins they would likely have to face Virginia, the top seed in that region, in the second round. The Rebels are back in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2015 after being picked to finish last in the SEC in Kermit Davis’ first season as coach.
