NWS Confirms 24 Tornados Hit Mississippi Sunday

MISSISSIPPI (Ben Caxton) — The National Weather Service has confirmed at least 24 tornadoes hit Mississippi on Sunday. Twisters have been confirmed in 15 counties. A man in Durant died after a tree fell on his house and a 7-year-old Brandon boy died after he was electrocuted by a power cord. Governor Phil Bryant has signed a state of emergency covering 20 counties and says he hopes to win federal aid to help pay for repairing the damage.
