No More Sunday Newspapers on Sunday

THE DELTA (Ben Caxton) — After eliminating Monday editions entirely a few weeks ago, a Mississippi newspaper publisher now says it will no longer be delivering a Sunday paper, on Sunday. In fact, they won’t be delivering the paper to subscriber’s doors at all anymore. Jackson based Emmerich Newspapers say they’ve hired the US Postal Service to do that instead for Greenville’s Delta-Democrat Times, the Enterprise-Journal in McComb, and the Greenwood Commonwealth. Since there is no mail delivery on Sunday, the Sunday news will be printed on Friday night, and delivered with the mail on Saturday, with the next paper not arriving until Tuesday’s mail delivery. The company cited increasing costs, declining revenues, and competition from web-based news services and social media for making the change, while also claiming that the move would result in better service for readers. The switch to mail delivery is slated to start June 26th.

I would not dream of subscribing to the DDT, online or paper. The fish rots from the head down.
