No Decisions on Suspended CPU Employees

CLARKSDALE, MS (Ben Caxton) — The fate of three Clarksdale Public Utilities executives who have been on paid suspension for eight weeks remains up in the air. Canton attorney Jim Herring spent most of August investigating various charges against General Manager Mark Johnson, CFO Steve Reed, and communications director Chris Campos; approximately 14 hours of depositions from the trio were transcribed into several hundred pages and summarized in Herring’s 30-page report, a document that reportedly does not draw any conclusions or include any recommendations. The “CPU 3” and their attorney, Berk Huskison from Columbus, met yesterday in closed session with the CPU board of commissioners; the board will meet again Tuesday and may decide at that time whether to reinstate, discipline or terminate the three who have been suspended since July 26th.
