COAHOMA COUNTY, MS (Ben Caxton) — The Coahoma County Tourism board met yesterday and voted of officers for the next year. Al Jones was elected chairman, Roger Stolle (STOW-lee) vice-chair and Wilhelmina Newson was named secretary; the board also will retain Ed Peacock as board counsel and will seek proposals for a CPA firm to conduct an annual audit. Before next month’s meeting Jones and Stolle will form three standing committees; a budget committee, personnel committee and communications committee and after applications close for the executive director position on October 22nd, the board will begin evaluating the applicants. Peacock also reported that the state auditor’s investigation of alleged fiscal misappropriations by former executive director Kappi Allen is still underway but could not provide a timeline of when the investigation may conclude.
