New Trial Ordered for Convicted Greenwood Man

GREENWOOD, MS (Ben Caxton) — A Greenwood man convicted and sentenced to 60 years behind bars for his part in a 2017 murder near Itta Bena is getting a new trial. D’Alandis Love died in August 2015 after gunfire broke out on U.S. 82 near Itta Bena between the three passengers in his car and another vehicle traveling down the highway. The driver of the other car, Jacarius Keys of Greenwood, implicated the four other men in his car in the shooting in a video made by a police investigator – Armand Jones, Sedrick Buchanan, Michael Holland, and James McClung, all of Greenwood. Keys was shot and killed before he could testify against the others. The video, though, was used at trial and resulted in the conviction of McClung. In a ruling this week the Mississippi Court of Appeals said Circuit Judge Ashley Hines erred by allowing the video as testimony against McClung because McClung was unable to confront his accuser.
