New Radios For Greenwood Police Department

GREENWOOD, MS (Ben Caxton) — Greenwood’s Police Department will soon be able to talk to Firefighters and other emergency responders, again. At this week’s meeting, the Greenwood city council approved spending $238,000 to upgrade to the Police Department’s radio system. Police Chief Ray Moore told the council that the current system does not allow officers to communicate with other law enforcement agencies – not even the local fire department. That’s because other departments have already upgraded to the new Mississippi Wireless Information Network. The purchase includes 70 handheld radios and 35 mobile radios.
