New Poll Shows Senate Race Dead-even Between Hyde-smith and Espy

JACKSON, MS (Ben Caxton) — A new poll just released by Triumph Campaigns for Y’all Politics shows a dead heat between Democrat Mike Espy and Republican Cindy Hyde-Smith to serve the remaining years of Senator Thad Cochran’s Senate term. Espy and Hyde-Smith each garnered support from 33% of polled voters. Republican conservative firebrand Chris McDaniel came in a distant third at just under 13%. The open election in the fall will be followed by a runoff if no candidate receives over 50% of the vote. The poll indicated that in a two-way race Hyde-Smith would beat Espy if the election were held today by 42% to 36%. However, an Espy-McDaniel race favors Espy 43% to 24%.
