A judge has ordered a new election for one of three election commissioner seats in Washington County. Jan Brown was declared the winner of the District 2 seat over Tonya Franklin by 56 votes. Franklin contested the results, and a judge has ordered a new election due to Brown being involved in some of the handling of the votes. The election was held on November 6th on the ballot with the Presidential race. Hinds County Circuit Court Judge Breland Hilburn ordered a new election to be held before the end of the year. The order applies only to the District 2 Election Commissioner Office.
