New Amtrak Rail Stop Coming to the Delta

MARKS, MS (Ben Caxton) — Passenger rail service returns to the Delta next month with a daily stop on the New Orleans-Chicago Amtrak route. Governor Phil Bryant, Senator Roger Wicker, Congressman Bennie Thompson and other officials will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new station on Cherry Street in Marks at 5:30 PM on May 4th. $1.2 million in grants and appropriations from the Federal Highway Administration, Mississippi Department of Transportation, Mississippi Development Authority, Delta Regional Authority and Quitman County paid for the new station which officials hope will help revitalize downtown Marks and increase Mississippi tourism.
