Murdered Shaw Baby Laid to Rest in Clarksdale

CLARKSDALE, MS (Ben Caxton) — Funeral services were held over the weekend in Clarksdale for a baby who died after being stabbed and baked alive in an oven. 48-year old Carolyn Jones allegedly stabbed her 20-month-old granddaughter, Royalty Floyd, before putting her in a hot oven to die. An autopsy showed the child died from sharp force trauma and thermal injuries. The toddler lived with her grandmother in Shaw. A family member made the discovery and called police on October 15th. Investigators still don’t know why Jones killed her granddaughter or if she was struggling with a mental disorder. She’s charged with first-degree murder and is being held on a $500,000 bond.
