Ms Bill Would Allow Guns In Church

(Jackson, MS) — Many Mississippi church goers could end up toting more than bibles to church under a bill advancing at the Mississippi Capitol. The house voted 86-32 Wednesday to pass House Bill 786, known as the Mississippi Church Protection Act. This bill would allow members to carry guns in church and would carry the same kind of immunity from prosecution that the state law gives to a person using a gun to defend a home, vehicle or business, if threatened. House Judiciary B Committee Chairman Andy Gipson, an attorney and minister, filed the bill in response to the church slayings last summer in Charleston, SC.
