More Weekend Tornados Confirmed

JACKSON, MS (Ben Caxton) — The National Weather Service says two tornados ripped through parts of Louisiana and Mississippi over the weekend. A tornado with winds of up to 115 mph touched down in Meridian Saturday night. Power was knocked out, the roof was blown off of an apartment building and trees fell on several homes.Portions of Highway 45 near Marion were also blocked due to the fallen trees. At least one person suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the Saturday storm. Another tornado blew through Richland Parish near Rayville, Louisiana on Sunday afternoon but only caused minor tree damage. The NWS had earlier confirmed damage to homes in the Jackson area was caused by a weak EF1 tornado.
