Mississippi’s Auto Industry Is Shutting Down

CANTON, MS (Ben Caxton) — Mississippi’s auto industry is shutting down because of the coronavirus outbreak. Over 5200 people work at the Nissan plant in Canton but production is suspended through April 6th. Toyota is closing all of its plants through April 3rd including the one in Blue Springs that has 2000 employees. Both companies say their workers will continue to be paid during the closures.
