Mississippi Valley State Fires Football Coach

ITTA BENA, MS (Ben Caxton) — Mississippi Valley State has fired its head football coach. Just 48 hours after a 16 to 10 loss against Alabama State on Saturday the University wasted no time in handing coach Rick Comegy his pink slip. The University announced yesterday that it would not be renewing Comegy’s contract when it expires at the end of the year. In his four seasons in Itta Bena, the Devils won just six games. MVSU has had only 14 winning seasons in its entire 60-year football history. the last time the team finished with a winning record was in 2006.
