Mississippi State Team Headed to World Series in Omaha

OMAHA, NE (Ben Caxton) — Mississippi State’s baseball team is headed to the College World Series for the first time in five years and the tenth time in school history. The Bulldogs beat Vanderbilt 10-6 in 11 innings on Sunday in game three of the super regional. Mississippi State pitchers struck out 16 Vanderbilt batters and the Commodores left 17 runners stranded on base in a game that lasted more than five hours thanks to a two-hour weather delay. The Bulldogs will face Washington on Saturday in Omaha. It’ll be the Huskies first trip to the College World Series.
