Update: Ferretti, Rosebud headed to Runoff

CLEVELAND, MS (Ben Caxton) — Mississippi House District 30 which spans parts of Bolivar, Sunflower, Quitman, and Tallahatchie Counties will have a new representative in the State House soon. Official results now show candidate Blake Ferretti garnering the most support with 985 votes, but not the 50% plus one required to avoid a runoff. Tracey Rosebud received 509 votes, Lester Williams 487, and William McClellan 301. Since no one received a majority of all ballots cast a runoff election will be scheduled in a few weeks to determine who is seated and sent to Jackson to represent the district. The seat was vacated earlier this year when former Rep. Robert Huddleston retired. The winner of the runoff election will face re-election in the fall of 2019 at the end of Huddelston’s original term. CORRECTION/UPDATE: This story has been updated from the early results received yesterday evening which indicated a majority of the votes had been cast for one candidate to show the results as of Thursday morning which indicate now that a runoff will be held.
