Mississippi has been recognized for its high rate of vaccinations for kindergarten students

A report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention finds that our state leads the nation for vaccinations for kindergarten students, at a rate of 99.7 percent vaccination coverage. By state law, five different vaccines are required before entering first grade. Unlike some other states, Mississippi does not allow philosophical or religious exemptions. Even with the 99.7 percent rate, health officials said there were some preventable deaths among children who were in the point 3 percent.
