Mississippi Firefighters Headed to Pacific Northwest

JACKSON, MS (Ben Caxton) — Two Mississippi Forestry Commission firefighters will help fight wildfires in Idaho and Washington State. A heavy equipment boss has been sent to Washington to assist state and federal partners with wildfire suppression efforts, and one Ground Support Unit Leader Trainee is in Idaho where the Sharps wildfire east of Hailey has burned over 65,000 acres and is 57 percent contained. The pair are expected to return to Mississippi in about two weeks.
