Mississippi Attorney General Betting on Sports Gambling

WASHINGTON, DC (Ben Caxton) — If the Supreme Court decides to legalize sports betting across the country, Mississippi could be one of the biggest winners. Sports betting is only legal in Nevada and three other states but a New Jersey case which has reached the highest court in the land could give each state the ability to decide on their own laws for sports betting. If the court rules in favor of the states, Mississippi has joined New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Connecticut in passing legislation which would allow betting on sports…although the state gaming commission would have additional steps to go through before the sports betting became legal. As the case has moved through the courts over the past three years the NBA and Major League Baseball have voiced more support for wider legalization of sports betting.
