Mississippi Attorney Cheats Death in Plane Crash

OXFORD, MS (Ben Caxton) — A high-profile Mississippi attorney was a passenger on a twin-engine jet hours before it crashed killing three people. Richard “Dickie” Scruggs and his family flew on the plane from Colorado back to their home in Oxford Saturday; moments later pilot Tommy Nix, his wife Merline and co-pilot Jarrod Holloway left Oxford headed for Alabama. Federal Aviation Administration investigators found the wreckage Saturday night between New Albany and Blue Springs; the FAA and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.
