Mississippi Abortion Law Remains on Hold

Chicot Memorial

JACKSON, MS (Ben Caxton) — The most restrictive abortion law in the United States will remain on hold for at least several more months. A Mississippi law that bans abortion after 15 weeks was signed by Governor Phil Bryant in March but the state’s only abortion clinic immediately sued and a federal judge issued a temporary restraining order. Last week Judge Carlton Reeves extended the order until at least October 24th and set a September 24th hearing on the clinic’s request to keep the law on hold even longer.
