Men Out, but Women Advance to Sweet Sixteen

PORTLAND, OR (Ben Caxton) — Mississippi State’s men lost in the first round of the NCAA basketball tournament but the Lady Bulldogs advanced to the Sweet 16 with an 85-61 win over ninth-seeded Clemson on Sunday. It was the final home game for four starting seniors including Teaira McCowan, with 1901 points in her career. She also has a school record 1474 career rebounds. Mississippi State’s next opponent will be Arizona State on Friday in Portland.
