“Memphis, The Musical” Debuts Thursday In Greenville

GREENVILLE (Angie Quezada) — Delta Center Stage is only two days away from presenting their next production, “Memphis, The Musical.” Angie Quezada spoke with Tim Bixler, Executive Director of Delta Center Stage. Where are you guys right now as far as gearing up for this big production that’s literally three days away? “Well, Delta Center Stage produces six shows a year. And this year we’re doing four musicals and this is one of them. It’s a primarily african-American cast and the play is titled “Memphis” which is set in, guess what? Memphis! The year is 1952, and it’s all about the introduction of African-American music to a white audience.” What are you hoping the audience will just take out from that production, after they leave the theater? “What they will leave with is a sense of amazement at how talented people from Greenville, Mississippi really are. The level of talent, especially among African-Americans in this community is just phenomenal.” The musical will be shown at the E.E. Bass Cultural Arts Center on Main Street from Thursday through Sunday.
