Mardi Gras Fever Hits The Delta Today

GREENVILLE, MS (Ben Caxton) — Carnival celebrations are getting underway worldwide this weekend, and this year Greenville is joining in the fun. For the first time ever Mardi Gras gets underway in downtown Greenville this afternoon at five o’clock. “We’re going to be throwing candy, and beads. It’s going to be so much fun for kids to be able to go and be out there and see all of the different things that are going to be going on. We have different dance teams that are going to be with us, we’ll have some bands …” Nicole Morgan of Delta Radio Network the prime sponsor of the event. In Greenville head downtown to Washington Avenue for the parade with the kids, and stay into the night to party with the rest of the adults. “What I absolutely love about doing this is, it’s for everybody.” If you can’t make it to Greenville, Cleveland will be hosting it’s 5th annual Mardi Gras celebrations downtown. Events there kick off at 5:00pm as well.
