Man Who Won’t Stay In Jail On-the-loose Again

GREENWOOD, MS (Ben Caxton) — A man who’s escaped from custody in Mississippi before, is on-the-loose again. Authorities are still searching for 31-year-old Michael Rucker of Yazoo City who escaped from the Greenwood Restitution Center on Monday. Rucker was arrested in May in Hannibal, Missouri charged with felony resisting arrest, reckless driving, operating a vehicle without a valid license after breaking into a home, and running from police in that city. Police there determined he was wanted for escape and returned him to Mississippi where he was sentenced to 10 years in Yazoo County for auto theft. It is not clear how Rucker escaped this time, and the incident is still under investigation. Leflore County Sheriff Ricky Banks said he had not received a call about Rucker’s escape. Fisher asked that anyone with information about Rucker’s whereabouts call the warrant division at the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
