Man Says Family Dog Saved Him from House Fire

GREENWOOD, MS (Ben Caxton) — A Greenwood man believes he and his son are still alive because their dog alerted them that their house was on fire. Elmo Proctor’s family pit bull named AP pushed open a door and woke him by barking as their home filled with smoke Monday night. The blaze was contained to the kitchen but other parts of the house had smoke damage. Proctor, his son Quincy Wilkins and the dog all escaped.
