Man Arrested In NBA Star’s Death

MEMPHIS, TN (Ben Caxton) — Memphis authorities arrested a man yesterday in connection with the murder of former NBA basketball star Lorenzen Wright. Wright was shot and killed seven and a half years ago, in 2010. The Shelby County District Attorney’s Office and Memphis Police Department held a news conference Tuesday afternoon announcing the arrest of 46-year-old Billy Turner who was taken into custody while buying a drink from Collierville convenience store. He is being held on first-degree murder charges with a $1 million bond. Wright was last seen leaving the home of his ex-wife July 18th of 2010. Germantown Police Department received a 911 call from Wright’s phone the next morning, but the call was interrupted by gunfire. His body was discovered July 28 in a wooded area west of Hacks Cross Road. Last month, investigators found the gun used to murder Wright in a lake in Walnut, Mississippi. Investigators would not say if the gun that was found directly led to Turner’s arrest.
