Louisiana Woman Dies in Crash

(Calcasieu Parish, LA) — One person is dead and another is injured after a Monday morning vehicle accident in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana. Just before 6 a.m., Louisiana State Troop D responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Sam Dunham Road at Louisiana Highway 27. The preliminary investigation revealed that 26-year-old Laura Lee Reeves of Lake Charles was traveling west in a 2006 GMC Sierra on Sam Dunham Road and she failed to yield the right-of-way to a commercial truck that was traveling north on LA 27 resulting in a collision. Reeves was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the commercial truck was wearing a seat belt and was transported to a nearby hospital with minor to moderate injuries. The accident is still under investigation.
