Little Rock Electric Coop Announces New 100 Megawatt Solar Farm

CROSSETT, AR (Ben Caxton) — The Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corporation announced plans for an 800-acre solar power farm near Crossett yesterday. The 100-megawatt project, consisting of more than 362,000 solar panels, will create as many as 175 jobs during the peak of construction, with up to three permanent jobs once construction is completed. AECC president and CEO, Duan Highley, says hydropower, solar, wind and biomass generate more than 17% of the electricity used by the cooperative’s 1.2 million members.
