Let the Christmas Returns Begin

THE DELTA (Ben Caxton) — American retailers are expecting about $72 billion worth of post-Christmas returns this year, 10% of their holiday sales. Return fraud is at an all-time high with people returning stolen items or “wardrobing” – buying a clothing item, wearing it once and returning it for a refund. That’s why many stores require receipts or charge restocking fees. For the 12th straight year gift cards were a big holiday item, and many can be registered as credit cards to protect them against loss or theft.
