Leland Police Chief Leaving At End Of July

LELAND, MS (Ben Caxton) — Leland’s police chief is hanging up his badge. Current Chief Billy Barber has announced that his last day with the department will be July 30th. Barber got his start in law enforcement in 1990 with the Leland Police Department, where he worked as both a criminal investigator and narcotic investigator. Eight years later, he joined the Washington County Sheriff’s Department where he stayed for 15 years until taking the job as head officer back in Leland, four years ago.
