Leland Aldermen delay decision on police chief

Chicot Memorial

The Board of Aldermen in Leland has tabled a decision on a permanent police chief and voted to retain interim chief Scott Tarpley for the time being. Mayor James Lowe was against the delay and plans to ask for another meeting to move forward with a permanent hire. The City has struggled to keep the police chief’s position filled, and it became open again this summer when Leon Hicks was demoted.
