Kermit Davis Has Been Named Sec Coach Of the Year

OXFORD, MS (Ben Caxton) — Ole Miss basketball coach Kermit Davis has been named SEC Coach of the Year. Davis has led the team to 20 wins so far in his first season, and it appears the Rebels are headed to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 4 years. After finishing 12-20 last season the improvement is the largest turnaround among Power 5 schools this season. Kentucky’s John Calipari and Florida’s Mike White are the only other active coaches to win 20 games in their first season in the SEC. The SEC tournament begins today as the Rebels face Alabama.
