June 3: The Week In Review

Chicot Memorial

THE DELTA (Ben Caxton) — It’s Saturday, and time again for a look back at the week in news across the Delta. Homicides were up to start the week in Mississippi with one gunman killing eight people in Lincoln County, and shootings in Jackson and Vicksburg claiming two more lives over the Holiday weekend. On Tuesday an Ole Miss Rebel was crowned as a national champion golfer. And he’s just a sophomore, and an Arkansas man who beat the Price is Right. Wednesday morning a Cleveland woman wound up $100,000 richer just for listening to John Miller in the Morning on Kix 92.1. Wednesday we told you about a new parenting clinic in Leland, and a fire at a Greenville nursing home. Thursday the City of Greenville thanked people for using water, and the 2017 hurricane season got underway. Friday a new museum opened in downtown Leland, the Mississippi Valley State President got a new gig in Jackson, and the Delta Jubilee got underway in Clarksdale. All this and more, this week, from Delta Radio and Delta Daily News dot com.
