THE DELTA (Ben Caxton) — It’s Saturday and time for a look back at news in the Delta of the week gone by. Last weekend four people died in a head-on traffic accident outside Leland, A fire destroyed an apartment in Greenwood, a 12-year-old drowned, and a former Ole Miss quarterback was arrested for DUI. Monday, Mississippi unveiled a plan to increase student test scores, an Arkansas town was sued by the Federal government on behalf of voters, Mississippi Valley State got a new acting President, and the Attorney General has asked for the death penalty for two inmates. The state announced more layoffs and details of a Chicot County fatal motorcycle accident emerged on Tuesday. Clarksdale lost phone service Wednesday, Thursday Warfield Park got more expensive and a man escaped prison in Dermott.
