Johnny Ice-cream Coming to Play in Memphis

MEMPHIS, TN (Ben Caxton) — “Johnny Football” aka “Johnny Icecream” aka quarterback Johnny Manzielis is coming to Memphis. Manziel has signed with the Memphis Express of the Alliance of American Football after the San Antonio team passed on signing the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner from Texas A&M. Manziel was a first-round NFL draft pick but after fizzling out in Cleveland he went 2-and-6 with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League. His CFL contract was terminated and Manziel was banned by the league in the offseason. Manziel will immediately join an Express team that is in last place in the league. Memphis lost quarterback Zach Mettenberger to an ankle injury in Saturday’s 22-9 loss at Salt Lake.
