Jobless claims on the rise in Washington County

The unemployment rate in Greenville was unchanged from October to November while Washington County’s rate moved up a bit. The slight increase from October to November was up from 9.3 to 9.6 percent. The latest information was released from the Mississippi Department of Employment Security. There are jobs available in the Greenville Public School District but there are no qualified applicants to fill them. The Consolidated Appropriations Act will appropriate 46- million dollars to construct a new Federal Courthouse next year which is expected to affect the unemployment rate in a positive way.
