January 13: The Week In Review

THE DELTA (Ben Caxton) — Another week of news is history in the Delta. If you weren’t listening to Delta Radio every morning, here’s what you might have missed. In Greenville yet another tree claimed an innocent driver’s life, another accident claimed a teenager’s life, the city’s first homicide victim of 2018 was found shot dead in a vehicle on North Street, the Sheriff arrested four of his own guards after another embarrassing prison escape, and a local bank robber led police on a chase that ended in a shootout in Tunica, and a hospital bed in Memphis. Greenwood police arrested two more in a turf war shooting at the Greenwood Country Club in December, Clarksdale debated tearing down run-down properties while the mayor lamented that locals buying on-line left him with $50,00 less in city coffers to spend on his own projects, and the electric company started installing 1000 new automated meters. McGehee Arkansas firefighters fought paper dust roof fires, Vicksburg workers repairing a park struck oil, and a Tallulah man is in jail for attempted 1st-degree murder. Two cases of statutory rape were revealed in Vicksburg, and two cases of domestic abuse prosecuted in Drew County, Arkansas. All these stories and many more, this week, from Delta Radio, and deltadailynews.com.
