GREENWOOD, MS (Ben Caxton) — Jerry Germaine Carter of Itta Bena has been sentenced to 25 years behind bars for his part in a 2015 robbery and attack in Greenwood. Carter, who was 22 years old at the time, along with Corey Taylor attacked two women inside a local U-Haul store, repeatedly stabbing them, before fleeing with $110 in cash along with cell phones and personal items from the women. The Greenwood Commonwealth recounts that in an earlier article from the time of the robbery the women worried that they would bleed to death at the scene before someone found them. Carter, who had previous convictions, pled guilty on Monday to two counts of armed robbery and two counts of attempted murder and was ordered to serve 30 years on each count, to be served concurrently, with 25 in prison and five under post-release supervision. His partner, Taylor, has not yet been to trial awaiting a court-ordered mental evaluation.
