Irs Warning About Identity Theft Scammers

JACKSON, MS (Ben Caxton) — The Internal Revenue Service is warning about scammers who steal people’s identities, file their taxes and hijack their refunds. Business filers should be aware that cyber criminals also file fraudulent Corporate Income Tax Returns using form 1120 with stolen business identities and they, too, should be alert. Reversing the damage from identity theft can be a frustrating and complex process for victims. While identity thieves steal information from sources outside the tax system, the IRS is often the first to inform a victim that identity theft has occurred.
