Interstate 20 Closures Begin in Jackson Today

JACKSON, MS (Ben Caxton) — Drivers in Jackson will see closures on Interstate 20 beginning today as crews begin demolishing and replacing the bridge deck at Lynch Creek in Hinds County. Eastbound lanes of I-20 will be closed for a week beginning tonight at 7; westbound lanes will be closed beginning next Friday night. The bridge goes over a creek between Valley Street and Ellis Avenue on Interstate 20. Freight traffic will be detoured to I-220 and local traffic will be directed to Highway 80 during the closures. MDOT says this stretch of freeway carries over 90,000 vehicles per day and engineers recently found cracking and exposed rebar.
