Infant Murder Charges Hinge on Autopsy

GREENVILLE, MS (Ben Caxton) — Greenville Police released a statement Wednesday evening saying that they have been officially notified of the passing of the baby born three months prematurely to the 23-year-old woman who was found shot five times on a Greenville street Sunday afternoon. Assistant Chief Michael Merchant says that charges against the suspect, 23-year-old Jonathan Driver, may be upgraded, pending an autopsy of the infant. The woman remained in critical condition at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson as of Wednesday night. Driver, who shot himself in the chest as he was being arrested by police at a New Albany, Mississippi hotel on Monday is also reported to be in critical condition according to police.
