In Mississippi, there were 823 new cases of COVID-19 and 23 new deaths reported Friday by state health officials.

JACKSON, Miss. (Ben Caxton) – In South Mississippi, that number breaks down to 90 new cases and no new deaths reported for the six southernmost counties.

As of Sept. 3, 2020, the new cases are reported in the following: Harrison County (37), Jackson County (31), Pearl River County (15), Stone County (4), Hancock County (2), and George County (1).

Mississippi investigates both probable and confirmed cases and deaths, said MSDH. As of Sept. 3 at 6pm, there have been a total of 85,939 cases investigated, which includes 4,409 probable cases. There have been 2,558 deaths investigated, including 164 probable deaths.
