Human West Nile Virus Count Hits 60

JACKSON, MS (Ben Caxton) — The State Health Department reported two new human cases of West Nile Virus yesterday, bringing the 2017 total to 60, with two deaths. The latest cases are in Hinds County and DeSoto county. In 2016 there were 43 West Nile Virus cases and two deaths. Bolivar, Leflore, Sunflower, and Yazoo counties have all reported a case of the disease so far this year. Although the peak season for West Nile has passed, cases can occur at any time of the year.
