Holmes County Escapee Recaptured By Police


LEXINGTON, MS (Ben Caxton) — A Holmes County escapee is back in custody, after escaping earlier Friday. Holmes County authorities and the Mississippi Department of Corrections were looking for Javontae Taliaferro after he escaped from the Holmes-Humphreys County Regional Correctional Facility in Lexington Friday. Taliaferro, 21, was last seen with other inmates during recreation outside at the facility. He was noticed missing during the certified count at 3:00 PM. He has multiple convictions in Pike County. He is serving a total of 15 years for aggravated assault on a police officer, fleeing law enforcement, armed robbery, conspiracy to commit a crime, and grand larceny. He was sentenced on Nov. 14, 2016.
