Hogs and Ducks Are Cash Cows in Arkansas

LITTLE ROCK, AR (Ben Caxton) — Hogs and ducks are cash cows in Arkansas. A simple 6 inch by 12-inch metal plate with the image of a red Razorback earned $1.3 million in sales as the state’s most popular specialty license plate. About $1 million of the proceeds from 37,391 plates sold went directly to the University of Arkansas Alumni Association to pay for college scholarships. A distant second on the sales list was Arkansas’s “Ducks Unlimited” design purchased by 7,492 people in 2018 and earning $187,300 in sales. Altogether more than 94 different specialty plate designs earned sales of $4 million dollars to help fund the various nonprofit organizations and educational institutions the designs represent.
